Kilauea Ohana Playschool (KOP) is a part-time cooperative preschool that has been serving Honolulu and East Oahu since 1968! Our playschool is special because of our small class sizes, great teacher, and parent involvement.

 

We emphasize play, along with Montessori elements, and a fun circle time where song is used to playfully introduce bigger concepts to the keikis growing minds! The children take turns leading the class during the songs by pointing to the ABCs, days of the week, months of the year, numbers and more! Concepts are learned quickly by the incorporation of melody, repetition, and visual recognition. 

 

If desired, parents are welcome in the classroom to help attached children safely stretch their social boundaries, and experience a sense of community.

KOP is a parent run co-op. With the exception of one paid teacher, parents help create our small community and volunteer for jobs such as Secretary/Planner, Yearbook, Admissions and Tours, Director, and Treasurer.
